Established in 1931 by the Edlin Ltd
The Wine Cellar came to life in 2021, driven by the rich history of Ye Olde King and Queen’s cellar right next door. In the 1930s, the Edlin family resided in Ye Olde King and Queen, engaging in the art of wine bottling. Amongst their wide array of wines, Burgundies took the spotlight, imported with ease through Shoreham Port and onwards to Marlborough Place, avoiding the complexities of importing into London in large quantities.
Interestingly, during the same period, the Wine Cellar itself thrived as a reputable wine merchant. Today, one can still witness the remnants of this bottling business – the very bottling machine that occupied Ye Olde King and Queen’s cellar, adorned with the occasional lingering cork. Step into our world and embrace the legacy that lives within these walls.
